Manitoba abounds in tourist attractions. Not only is this region rich in scenic landscapes and flourishing in flora and fauna, Manitoba also hosts a number of Canada’s most awaited festivals. Here are some of the most anticipated:

Manitoba Sunflower Festival

Held every last weekend of July, Manitoba Sunflower Festival is celebrated with a parade, horse show, pancake breakfast, food booth, baseball tournament, and petting zoo. The festival’s highlight is the crowning of the Sunflower Festival Queen, as well as a stage show on the Saturday night.

Great Woods Music Festival

This music festival began in 1996 as a way to showcase the region’s musical talent. People crowd in this event every last Saturday of June to witness its Provincial Marathon Canoe & Kayak Competition, bagpipe competition, sheep shearing, and dance contest. Scottish food and drinks flow during this festival.

Pioneer Days

Celebrating pioneer life, this festivity held every August includes various activities such as log cutting and quilting, butter churning, barbecue, horse show, auction sale, and special events for kids.

Opasquia Indian Days

Held by the Opaskwayak Cree Nation every June, this celebration features live fiddlers, moose and goose calling, canoe races, and a showcase of native food such as moose stew and bannock. It is highlighted by the Miss Opaskwayak Indian Days Pageant and the Western Canadian Square Dance Championships.

Winkler Harvest Festival

Graced by free pancake breakfasts, rodeo, parade, petting zoos, fireworks, and the much awaited Ms. Winkler Pageant, the Winkler Harvest Festival is held annually on the first weekend of August.
