The Alberta Badlands

If you are a dinosaur lover, and if you have seen all Jurassic Park movies, the Alberta Badlands is one vacation destination you would be hungry for. For all intents and purposes, it is prairie territory. At first look, you would find the Alberta Badlands as just a vacant expanse, but if you stay long enough, you would realize that it holds a historical importance. Many surprises could be seen in this place such as hills in isolation, maintaining the characteristics of the place before glaciers claimed part of it.

At the river valleys, the elements demolished the sandstones to make way for badlands and beds of bones of the long-perished mammoths and dinosaurs.

Taking a long hike across the badlands

A hiking trail would lead to seven hundred acres through canyons and valleys. Painters and photography buffs would have a field day in this place. Just a few tips for the hikers though. Bring binoculars, sunglasses, sun protection lotion, and a canteen of water. Bring or wear hiking boots, and be prepared for both wet and dry weather. Winter conditions would go negative 10 to 0 degrees Celsius. If you come from a hot climate, bring heavy sweaters or windbreakers.

The cabins for rent are sufficient for the modern person's needs. They have kitchen facilities, a loft, outdoor toilet, heated shower, etc. If you wish for a generator, expect additional charges.

It would be best to join a hiking tour instead of going just by yourself. Remember, accidents can and do happen in these badlands, and nobody wants a bad turn of fate by meeting an accident along the way.
